Kingsley Nursing Home charges £510 per week for
a standard room and £521
per week for a room with en suite facilities. Fees are payable
every 4 weeks in advance.
Funding for care can be a complex issue and the following
information should be looked upon as a guide to what to
expect. Essentially two things will be assessed, your finances
and your level of need for care.
Financial Assessment
Your local council will carry out a financial assessment
before deciding whether they, or you, should pay all or
part of the costs of your care.
The level of funding is determined by how much savings
and property (known as capital) you have and your income
(for example, pensions or state benefits).
If you have less than £13,500 in capital, it will not be
taken into account. However, you may still have to pay something
towards your care if you have other income (for example,
pensions or state benefits).
If you have between £13,500 and £22,250 in capital, you
will have to pay some of the costs of your care.
If you have more than £22,250 in capital, you will have
to pay all costs for your care until the value falls below
£22,250.
Needs Assessment
All residents with nursing needs should get help towards
their fees from the NHS. From 1st October 2007 there is
a single level of funding contribution of £101.
If you have more complex health needs, you may be eligible
for what is known as “continuing NHS healthcare”
which is free of charge to you.
Matron will be happy to explain these processes further
to clarify a rather complex area.
